  12. What about the metro, taxi or car rental?
    AFA Shuttle Bus
AFA provides daily shuttle bus service on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday between the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center and the Pentagon (South Parking-Fern St), Bolling AFB, Andrews AFB, and King Street Metro Station during the Conference. A link to the shuttle schedule will be available once it has been finalized.

    Metro/Water Taxi
The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) provides bus and subway service (Metro) around the DC area. Unfortunately, at this time, there is not a convenient Metro option near the hotel. The preferred Metro stop to use is the King Street Station in Old Town Alexandria, which is across the river from the hotel. There is a free trolley from King Street Metro to a commercial water taxi ($8 each way for a 20- minute trip; it runs daily 10:50 a.m. – 11:15 p.m. from Old Town; more details at http://www.potomacriverboatco.com/). AFA will run a free shuttle from/to the King Street Station on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

    Downtown Shuttle Bus
The Gaylord offers a shuttle from the main entrance of the hotel to the Old Post Office (1100 Pennsylvania Ave, NW) and Union Station (H Street & 2nd Street). The shuttle runs continuously between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m., seven days a week. Cost is $13 one-way, $20 round-trip or $49 for an unlimited 3 day pass. Stop by the hotel’s Tour Transportation Desk to purchase tickets. For those taking the Gaylord Shuttle from Union Station to the hotel who have not purchased tickets from the hotel’s Transportation Tour Desk: you can catch the On Board Shuttle in the 3rd lane of Columbus Circle. You will need to pay the driver in cash.

    Trains
More than 80 trains a day arrive at Washington, D.C.'s Union Station on Capitol Hill (50 Massachusetts Ave. NE). For updated information on arrivals, departures, and fares, contact Amtrak www.amtrak.com or 800-872-7245. The two major commuter rail systems serving the Washington, D.C. area are the Virginia Railway Express (VRE) and the Maryland Rail Commuter (MARC) service. For schedules and information go to www.commuterpage.com/rail.htm. Transportation information to the hotel from Union Station can be found above in the ‘Downtown Shuttle Bus’ paragraph. Taxis are available at Union Station. Fares will vary.

  13. Which transportation mode is best—taxi, Metro or car?
Individuals who want to rent a car and drive to the Marriott Wardman Park hotel may find it more costly as parking is $31.36 a day for self-parking. Also, the parking garage is usually full during the event. Please check with other hotels in advance for their guest parking rates. Using Metro (bus/subway) or taxi offers better convenience.

Additionally, AFA provides daily shuttle bus service between the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel and the Pentagon, Bolling Air Force Base (AFB), Washington, D.C. and Andrews AFB, Maryland. The schedule for these AFA shuttle busses will be posted on our website (www.AFA.org) and will be available at the Transportation Desk within the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel.
