On March 4, 2008, the Air Force Association and the First Command Educational Foundation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) establishing this scholarship to assist members of the Air Force family. The MOU commits the Air Force Association and the First Command Educational Foundation to provide this scholarship through 2011.
The Air Force Association (AFA) is a 501(c)(3) organization that educates the public about the critical role of aerospace power in the defense of our nation, advocates aerospace power and a strong national defense, and supports the United States Air Force, the Air Force family and aerospace education. AFA has more than 200 chapters nationally and internationally representing more than 119,000 members.
The mission of First Command Educational Foundation (FCEF) is to promote education as the foundation to a productive society through scholarships and financial literacy programs dedicated to financial wellness and independence. More information on FCEF may be viewed at http://www.fcef.com.
The AFA-FCEF Air Force Excellence Scholarship provides five scholarships in the amount of $3,000 to each recipient during each year of the MOU. Recipients must be members of the Air Force family who are seeking a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the area of science, technology, engineering or math.
