Fellowships

  • Sponsor for local Politician for excellent work with AFA
  • Sponsor for AFA member for excellent work done with State/chapter
  • Sponsor for person in community helping promote Aerospace Education
  • Present at State/Chapter function
  • Send feedback (written report, newspaper article) to AFA to be submitted to AFA Magazine
  • Get a co-sponsor from among community partners or other community organization
  • Present at a civic function (e.g., school board meeting)

Visions of Exploration

  • Develop partnership with local services (Power Company, Corporations, etc) for assistance w/ costs
  • Send feedback (written report, newspaper article) to AFA to be submitted to AFA Magazine
  • Give participating teachers recognition with a certificate or small token at PTA meeting
  • Contact local USA Today representative for (additional) classroom contacts and support
  • Co-sponsor a Teacher’s Workshop or In-Service presentation with USA Today and CAP representatives

Spouse & Callahan Scholarship

  • Recognize at State/Chapter function
  • Contact Base Education Office to help promote recognition on base
  • Sponsor Fellowship to honor winner and present at AFA event OR at an appropriate event on the base
  • Send feedback (written report, newspaper article) to AFA to be submitted to AFA Magazine
  • Invite recipient to participate in Chapter or State Executive Committee for the year

Chapter Matching Grant

  • Send feedback (written report, newspaper article) to AFA to be submitted to AFA Magazine
  • Get a Community Partner or develop a new Partnership to support the program and increase funding capability (e.g., project is $2,000; chapter and partner combined provide the $1,000; AFA Matching the other $1000).

Educator Grant

  • Contact Vision Classroom teachers and invite them to apply
  • Recognize at State/Chapter function
  • Recognize in classroom/school/ school board or PTA meeting
  • Invite to be on State/Chapter Executive Committee, etc.
  • Get a community organization (Community Partner or other organization) to Partner with the Chapter and match the AFA grant
  • Give the educator an AFA membership
  • Contact USA Today & CAP local representatives to help identify educators to tell about the program
  • Send feedback (written report, newspaper article) to AFA to be submitted to AFA Magazine

CAP Educator Grant

  • Recognize at State/Chapter function/school board or PTA meeting
  • Recognize in classroom/school (for CAP Aerospace Education Members, AEMs)
  • Give the educator an AFA membership
  • Recognize at CAP event

CAP Instructor Grant

  • Recognize at State/Chapter/school board or PTA function
  • Recognize at CAP event
  • Invite to be on State/Chapter Executive Committee, etc

AFJROTC Grant

  • Recognize at State/Chapter function
  • Recognize at School Board or PTA meeting
  • Invite to be on State/Chapter Executive Committee, etc
  • Give an AFA membership
  • Contact the instructor to offer support/assistance

Pitsenbarger Award

  • Volunteer to participate in selection process
  • Attend and assist in presentation at CCAF Graduation (script is provided by AFA)
  • Contact Base Education Office to help promote recognition on base
  • Recognize at State/Chapter function

Chapter Teacher of the Year Award and Certificates of Excellence
(One teacher of the year award is funded by AFA; multiple certificates may be given.)

  • Contact Vision Classroom teachers to encourage application submission
  • Contact Educator Grant recipients to encourage application submission
  • Recognize at State/Chapter function
  • Recognize in classroom/school
  • Sponsor 1yr. AFA and CAP Aerospace Education Membership (AEM) for teacher -- $36 AFA/$30 AEM
  • Get Community Partner to co-sponsor AFA & CAP Aerospace Education Memberships
  • Send feedback (written report, newspaper article) to AFA to be submitted to AFA Magazine
  • Present multiple certificates of excellence…perhaps one to a teacher in each school in the area

State Teacher of the Year Award

  • Contact Vision Classroom teachers to encourage application submission
  • Contact Educator Grant recipients to encourage application submission
  • Contact Chapter Teachers to encourage application submission
  • Conduct competition from among Chapter Teachers of the Year winners
  • Recognize at State/Chapter function; Present award at the State Convention
  • Sponsor Fellowship to honor winner; get a co-sponsor as Partner to defray expense
  • Recognize in classroom/school
  • Invite to be State/Chapter Executive Committee, etc.
  • Send winner to NCASE; fund through a Partnership organization
  • Send feedback (written report, newspaper article) to AFA to be submitted to AFA Magazine

AFA National Aerospace Teacher of the Year Award

  • Contact State Teachers to encourage application submission
  • Recognize at local School Board meeting
  • Contact local radio/TV stations (work with Board of Education Community Relations office) to get live interview
  • Recognize at State/Chapter function
  • Sponsor Fellowship to honor winner; Get a Partner to help defray expenses
  • Invite to be on State/Chapter Executive Committee, etc.
  • Send feedback (written report, newspaper article) to AFA to be submitted to AFA Magazine
