FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Aerospace Education Foundation to Provide Scholarships for Space Camp
Arlington, VA, July 5, 2004—In honor of the 50th Anniversary of Military Space, the Aerospace Education
Foundation (AEF) is embarking upon an ambitious fundraising program to send 50 students to Space Camp during
the summer of 2005.
In recent weeks, AEF has entered into a formal agreement with the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville,
Alabama to annually sponsor AEF Week at that facility's well-known and highly-respected U.S. Space Camp.
Depending upon age group, students are immersed in a variety of activities including: jet fighter simulators,
astronaut training, state-of-the-art space and weightless simulations, rocket building, learning robotics, and
survival training. Students also study the principles of flight, gain knowledge of the planets, carry out
space experiments, practice leadership, problem-solving and teamwork, and learn about the men and women who
blazed the path of our aviation history.
U.S. Space Camp was founded in 1982 by NASA to promote the study of math, science and technology. Its
educational programs couple classrooms instruction with hands-on activities and teach teamwork, decision-making
and leadership skills. Approximately 400,000 young people and adults have experienced the unique style of
education offered through Space Camp and the Space Academy. Demand for these programs comes from all 50 states
and over 30 different countries.
Those wishing to make a donation to help underwrite AEF’s Space Camp scholarships should contact Ann Sagle at
