Air Force Association Announces Symington Award
Arlington, VA, October 30, 2001-Senator Michael B. Enzi and
Congressman Cliff Stearns have been selected by the Air Force
Association (AFA) to receive the W. Stuart Symington Award for
the most outstanding civilian contribution in the field of National
Security.
Senator Enzi and Congressman Stearns were recognized by AFA
for co-founding the Congressional Air Force Caucus. The Caucus
worked to increase congressional awareness for Air Force
modernization and quality of life programs. Caucus members also
provided invaluable advice and counsel to senior Air Force
leaders.
The AFA award citation noted that the Caucus leadership sent
a strong signal to Air Force members worldwide that members of
Congress are prepared to speak out and act on behalf of the men
and women of the armed forces.
The Air Force Association is an independent, non-profit,
civilian aerospace organization whose objective is to promote
greater understanding of the role aerospace power plays in
national defense. AFA is a grass-roots organization with a
