AFA Welcomes Senate confirmation of General Schwartz as Chief of Staff
Arlington, VA – The Air Force Association today voiced strong support for the leadership of General Norton Schwartz, who was confirmed today by the U.S. Senate as Chief of Staff of the U.S. Air Force.
In June, Defense Secretary Robert Gates announced the nominations of General Norton Schwartz to be Chief of Staff, and General Duncan McNabb as Commander, U.S. Transportation Command. AFA applauds the choices of these experienced leaders.
“We look forward to joining the new Chief of Staff in working to continue to help the Air Force move forward,” said AFA Chairman Bob Largent. “Gen. Schwartz has the experience to take on the significant challenges that face the U.S. Air Force, including an aging fleet and limited resources.”
“The nation needs a strong Air Force, now and in the future. Having worked with General Schwartz, I know his leadership capabilities firsthand,” said Mike Dunn, President of AFA. “Gen. Schwartz and Gen. McNabb are the kind of leaders who can put the Air Force back on an upward vector.”
