AFA Participates in 2008 Berlin International Airshow Honors 60-Year Anniversary of Berlin Airlift
Arlington, VA – The Air Force Association today announced participation in the 2008 Berlin International Airshow in honor of the 60th anniversary of the Berlin Airlift.
Beginning in 1948, for nearly a year, the U.S. and western allies sustained a free Berlin behind the Iron Curtain with an unprecedented humanitarian airlift effort that showcased the reach of airpower.
The Air Force Association is proud to commemorate this triumph by participating in the 2008 Berlin International Airshow as a North American sponsor and an exhibitor. The Airshow, put on by Hannover Fairs USA, Inc., is May 27-June 1, 2008, at Schoenefeld Airport in Germany.
“The Air Force Association is proud to commemorate the Berlin Airlift. It is one of the great achievements in the history of airpower,” said Bob Largent, chairman of the board for AFA.
“Participating at the Berlin International Airshow is a great activity for AFA,” said Mike Dunn, president of AFA. “The need for airpower is as clear today as it was at the time of the Berlin Airlift.”
