John Politi is Air Force Association’s Member of the Year
Arlington, VA – The Air Force Association (AFA) announced that John J. Politi of Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas, received the coveted Member of the Year award at the AFA National Convention in Washington, DC, held this month in connection with the 2008 Air & Space Conference and Technology Exposition.
The Member of the Year award is given annually to the person who has given the most exceptional service to the association in all areas of its activities. It is the highest annual award presented for individual contributions to the Association. Politi was cited for his landmark contributions at all levels of the AFA volunteer structure. A former National President and Chairman of the Board, Politi orchestrated the most significant reorganization of the association in its history. He continues to serve at the highest levels, providing counsel and guidance, and support to ensure AFA continues to educate the public about, advocate for, and support the world’s finest Air Force.
The Air Force Association, now 62 years old, is a 501(C)(3), nonprofit organization promoting public understanding of aerospace power and the pivotal role it plays in the security of the nation. AFA has more than 200 chapters nationwide and overseas representing 125,000 members.
AFA’s Air & Space Conference and Technology Exhibition, which included 35 speakers and more than 130 exhibits of the latest in aerospace and defense technology, wrapped up Sept. 17 at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, D.C.
AFA’s National Convention included 234 registered delegates representing 44 states and the District of Columbia. In concert with its mission of ‘educate, advocate and support’, the AFA approved a Statement of Policy and Top Issues for 2009, which will soon be available online.
AFA’s National Aerospace Awards were presented in a Monday ceremony, and the Air Force’s Twelve Outstanding Airmen of the Year were honored at an evening dinner. Complete listings of the National Aerospace Awards and the Outstanding Airmen are available at www.AFA.org.
