AFA Announces the 2010 Grantham University Scholarship Recipient
Arlington, VA – The Air Force Association (AFA) today announced the selection of Dameyon Beaman for the Grantham University Scholarship, a full four-year scholarship bearing a total value of approximately $34,000.
After six years of service as an Air Force Medical Technician, he returned to civilian life and is a Mental Health Technician for the Department of Veterans Affairs in Lexington, Kentucky. He decided to pursue a degree at Grantham University because the University is veteran friendly and fits his schedule. Upon completion of his bachelor’s degree, he plans to also pursue a Master’s in Hospital Administration.
"Congratulations to Dameyon for pursuing his educational and career goals, said Mike Dunn, President of AFA. “We’re pleased to take part in his future through the Grantham University Scholarship.”
Promoting education is an important part of the mission of the Air Force Association, along with support of Airmen and their families. Through AFA's affiliation with Grantham University, AFA is pleased to provide an online degree scholarship toward a degree to an active duty Airman, a dependent of an Airman, an AFA member or a dependent of an AFA member.
Twenty years ago, a college education almost always meant dorm rooms and football games. With every part of life now impacted by technology, it is not surprising that education also has been brought into the 21st century by technological advances. More Americans are choosing distance education.
