AFA Highlights National Medal of Honor Day
Arlington, VA – The Air Force Association (AFA) today released the following statement in recognition of National Medal of Honor Day:
We are profoundly grateful to all who have worn a uniform in the military service of the United States of America. They have taken on personal risk in the cause of freedom. We appreciate their dedication and sacrifice.
The National Medal of Honor is reserved for those who have exhibited extraordinary valor in battle through their conduct above and beyond the call of duty. Today, we join the nation in this yearly special recognition of these exceptional heroes. Less than 3,500 of these rare honors have been bestowed in the nation’s entire history. Today, we commemorate their great courage.
