AFA Announces the 2011 Grantham University Scholarship Recipient
Arlington, VA – The Air Force Association (AFA) today announced the recipient of the Grantham University Scholarship, Teresa Kimminau. This full four-year scholarship bears a total value of approximately $36,000.
Mrs. Kimminau is the spouse of an active-duty Air Force officer and a mother of four. After she received her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from the University of Colorado, she worked in the nursing field for over 26 years. Mrs. Kimminau has spent the past 25 years committed to various volunteer activities including serving on various Air Force Spouse’s clubs and Military Base Chapel boards, as well as volunteering at the elementary school level as a classroom aide, substitute nurse/teacher or PTO/PTA Board representative.
With each military move, Mrs. Kimminau has found various ways to practice as a health care provider. She has worked as a staff nurse in Post-Partum, Nursery, and Neonatal Intensive Care Units in both military and civilian settings; has volunteered overseas as a Red Cross Instructor in Childbirth Education, Babysitting/First-Aid Classes and CPR Courses; and has served as a Home Visitor for at-risk populations for child neglect and abuse.
With this scholarship, Mrs. Kimminau will be able to fulfill her lifetime dream of becoming a nurse educator by pursuing a Master’s in Nursing Education.
