AFA Presents Northrop Grumman with Award of Appreciation

Arlington, VA – To express its great appreciation, the Air Force Association presented Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) with an award Thursday, June 2, 2011, for their continuing support of AFA’s CyberPatriot program, the nation’s largest high school cyber defense competition.

CyberPatriot, established in 2008, was designed to educate, excite and motivate the next generation of cyber defenders and other technically educated students the nation so desperately needs. This education initiative promotes student career interest in cyber security and other science, technology, engineering and mathematics career fields, in keeping with AFA’s mission to promote aerospace education.

The competition was limited to Air Force Junior ROTC and Civil Air Patrol high school students in its first two seasons, but with Northrop Grumman’s generous support as the presenting sponsor, CyberPatriot was able to reach full national deployment during its 2010-2011 season, making the program accessible to all high school students throughout the nation.

Northrop Grumman awarded the top winners of CyberPatriot III with scholarships to further their educational studies. Now entering its fourth year, CyberPatriot continues to expand rapidly with its unique structure and exciting premise.

“With Northrop Grumman’s generous support over the past year, CyberPatriot has been able to grow tremendously and positively affect thousands and thousands of students,” said Mike Dunn, President and CEO of AFA. “We are extremely grateful for their partnership and look forward to another year of building this program with them.”

Registration for CyberPatriot IV is now open through October 8, 2011. For more information on CyberPatriot or registration details, go to www.uscyberpatriot.org.
