CyberPatriot IV Reaches 800 Teams

Registration for Cyber Security/STEM Education Initiative Remains Open until Oct. 8

Arlington, VA – The Air Force Association announced today that CyberPatriot IV, the National High School Cyber Defense Competition, now has more than 800 teams registered to compete! With 47 states, Puerto Rico and U.S. Department of Defense Dependent Schools in England, Germany, Japan and Korea already represented, educators are seizing this great opportunity to bolster STEM education in their communities. Only D.C., Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont and Wyoming have yet to join the national challenge.

Established in 2008 by AFA, CyberPatriot is the one-of-a-kind national cyber security competition for high school students—and the ultimate cyber game! Competitors get to control simulated computer networks, learning to defend and protect computer systems from cyber threats and potential hackers. This program provides students hands-on learning about technology, emphasizing teamwork, leadership and critical-thinking.

CyberPatriot also offers support and technical expertise from industry leaders, including CyberPatriot III’s presenting sponsor Northrop Grumman and founding partners SAIC and the CIAS at the University of Texas-San Antonio.

“CyberPatriot has proven to be a program that teachers and educators nationwide agree with,” said Bernie Skoch, CyberPatriot Commissioner. “It’s a program that truly educates, motivates and excites today’s generation of tech-savvy students, and we are very pleased with the amount of enthusiasm this competition has received so far.”

Now in its fourth phase, CyberPatriot IV is open to all high schools, accredited home school programs, Civil Air Patrol units, and Junior ROTC units around the country.
