Commander of Air Force Space Command to Guest Speak at AFA’s November Air Force Breakfast Session

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Air Force Association is pleased to announce Gen. William L. Shelton, Commander of Air Force Space Command, as the guest speaker for the November session of AFA’s 2012 Air Force Breakfast Program. This event will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2012, from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., at the Sheraton Crystal City in Arlington, Virginia.

In his position, he is responsible for organizing, equipping, training and maintaining mission-ready space and cyberspace forces and capabilities for North American Aerospace Defense Command, U.S. Strategic Command and other combatant commands around the world. General Shelton oversees Air Force network operations; manages a global network of satellite command and control, communications, missile warning and space launch facilities; and is responsible for space system development and acquisition. He leads more than 42,000 professionals assigned to 134 locations worldwide.

The AFA Air Force Breakfast Program is a monthly series that provides a venue for senior Air Force and Department of Defense leaders to communicate directly with the public and the press. Past speakers include Secretary of the Air Force Michael B. Donley; Dr. Mark T. Maybury, Chief Scientist of the Air Force, and Lt. Gen. Frank Gorenc, Assistant Vice Chief of Staff and Director, Air Staff.
