Raytheon Joins CyberPatriot as Diamond Sponsor

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Air Force Association (AFA) is pleased to announce the addition of Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) as a Cyber Diamond Sponsor of AFA’s leading education program, CyberPatriot—National High School Cyber Defense Competition.

CyberPatriot is a unique program that educates, excites and inspires today’s youth to pursue education and careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Established in 2008, it is AFA’s flagship STEM program, having reached more than 100,000 students. CyberPatriot helps develop cyber-savvy talent to become the nation’s future cyber defenders and cyber leaders, to secure the nation’s networks from hostile and malicious intrusions.

“AFA has remained committed to developing this program because it helps fulfill our mission to educate, which is a chief priority of AFA. CyberPatriot is helping to prepare college- and career-ready students with not just technical skills, but also invaluable experience in teamwork, leadership, and critical-thinking,” said Bernie Skoch, CyberPatriot Commissioner. “Consequentially, this sponsorship by Raytheon, who is committed to encouraging our nation’s future leaders to excel in the vital STEM fields, including cyber security, will add great momentum to the program as we look to further the knowledge and skills of today’s youth.”

Raytheon is a technology and innovation leader specializing in defense, homeland security and other government markets throughout the world. With a history of innovation spanning 90 years, Raytheon provides state-of-the-art electronics, mission systems integration and other capabilities in the areas of command, control, communications and intelligence systems and many other areas.

The announcement coincides with Raytheon’s participation in National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM), a nationwide effort throughout October to promote safe and secure online behaviors and habits.

“Raytheon has both spearheaded and collaborated with others on numerous initiatives that work to encourage the development of students nationwide,” said Lynn Dugle, president of Raytheon’s Intelligence and Information Systems business. “We understand the need for strong, technically-abled individuals to continue this country’s flourishing technical edge. This sponsorship with CyberPatriot will be another great endeavor in encouraging and enabling our nation’s future leaders to excel in the vital STEM fields, especially cyber security.”
