Air Force Association Elects New President – John J. Politi

Arlington, VA, September 14, 2000- - John J. Politi of Sedalia, Missouri was elected National President of the Air Force Association during its National Convention and Aerospace Technology Exposition, held in Washington, D.C., September 11-13, 2000.

Politi currently serves as Vice President of Leadership Development for Missouri State AFA, Membership Committee Chairman, a member of both the Executive and Resolutions Committees and as a National Director.  He has also served as the National Vice President for the Midwest Region, Missouri State President and Treasurer,  Chairman of the Audit Committee and Ad Hoc Financial Committee Chairman.

Among his many awards, Politi has received the AFA Presidential Citation, the Exceptional Service Award and the Medal of Merit.

Politi joined the Air Force in March 1966 at Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota.  Most recently, he was the Commanding Officer at Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri. A veteran of twenty-six years, the majority of Politi’s career was spent in strategic nuclear weapons systems with assignments in strategic weapons systems targeting,  research and development and political advocacy.  Politi retired as a colonel in 1992.  A well-decorated officer, Politi has received, among other, the Legion of Merit and Medal of Merit awards.

Currently, Politi is the President of the Excellence in Missouri Foundation, a non-profit, private sector education organization.  He is a graduate of the University of Colorado with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and South Dakota State University with a Master of Science degree in Economics. 

He is married to the former Terri Hatch and has five children, Pam, Eileen, Jay, Stephanie, and Chip.
