“Up from Kitty Hawk―Space Employment in the Combat Environment”

During Operation Iraqi Freedom, space forces displayed awesome power and flexibility. They helped put “precision” in precision attack, found tanks in howling sandstorms, relayed commands to unmanned air vehicles, tracked troops on the move, listened in on Iraqi communications, drenched the battle space with usable information and much more. Now that space capabilities are at the forefront of US military operations and economic power, it is essential that the nation maintain preeminence in space. Military and commercial leaders will address the significance of 100 years of powered flight and the contributions of space capabilities in the combat environment at the Air Force Association-sponsored symposium.
