| Mississippi Teacher Thanks G. V. Sonny Montgomery Chapter
Lilia Fisher, READ 180 teacher from Greenlee Elementary School in Enterprise, Mississippi, recently sent a letter to Langford Knight, President of the G V. Sonny Montgomery Chapter:
I wanted to let you know how much my students are benefitting from using USA TODAY as a text for reading instruction. This newspaper is intentionally written at a sixth grade reading level so most readers can pick it up and easily understand what it is talking about. My sixth graders also find it to be reader-friendly.
I use this paper in my sixth grade READ 180 remedial reading class. I have fifteen students so each one gets a copy. We do many activities with the newspaper. We have kept track of happenings in the economy, sports, the election, and many other topics of interest. The graphics and charts are great. The lesson plans that are e-mailed to me are also very useful.
My kids look forward to reading the newspaper each week. I tell them it makes them look really smart. They think they do too when they are reading USA TODAY.
Thanks for your generous contribution to the education of today's young people.
