$15K in Scholarships Awarded by the Central Florida Chapter

The Central Florida Chapter (CFC) awarded $15,000 in scholarships to 33 Air Force ROTC cadets assigned to Detachment 159 at the University of Central Florida. Scholarships were presented during the 2009 Awards Luncheon, held April 16. CFC President James Callahan awarded $500 Scholarships to the following cadets: Austin Lieberman, Kevin Callin, Timothy Holland, Michael Cruz, Matthew Holfinger and Sven Martinez. Callahan awarded $400 scholarships to Chris Melendez, Ralph Soto, Michael Ingram, Andre Jacobs, Yancy Tang, Kathryn Vechik, Michael Sanacore, Alexander Gill, Stephen Arden, Britiney Grey, Emanuel Diaz, Giovanni Centeno, Christopher Roth, Robert Rollins, Laguna Guillermo, Mary Olive, Katherine Schaeffer, Nicholas Collazo, Jared Rutkovitz, William See, Jeffrey Brunell, Nathan Ott, Schley Peterson, Maxwell Burns, and William Jones. The $1,000 Lt Carlos Arriaga Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Nicholas Votipka and the $1,000 General Bruce K. Holloway Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Scott Callin. Colonel William Palmby, AFROTC Detachment 159 Commander, assisted during the presentation.

After the presentation ceremony, the cadre and cadets of Detachment 159 expressed their sincere appreciation to the leadership of the CFC for consistently providing substantial financial support, scholarships and public recognition to the cadets. Cadets were grateful for the chapter’s continued strong support because these scholarships enable the cadets to expand their aerospace education horizons.
