Max Friedauer, AFA National Director and Aerospace Education Council Member, attended the Arnold Air Society (AAS) and Silver Wings (SW) Area Region V Conclave held on October 3 at Pensacola Beach, Florida. He was met by 2Lt Leanne Babcock, AAS/SW Joint Alumni Association (JAA) National Development Officer. Friedauer presented an AFA briefing to the over 100 AFJROTC cadets, AAS/SW members, and conclave delegates. All AAS/SW members are also members of AFA, a fact not well known by AFA chapters and many of their members may actually not be affiliated with a chapter. Every AAS/SW member was provided a spreadsheet showing the closest AFA Chapter near their school and the cadets were encouraged to establish contact. Friedauer related that AFA needs to ensure that chapters are briefed and aware of this possible contact and welcome them with open arms. Additionally, as seniors graduate next year, they will be offered a half price 3-year membership, which will go a long way to possibly keeping these members for the long term. Friedauer also spoke with AAS National Commander C/Brig Gen Jun Ko.
