The Seidel Chapter wishes to congratulate Symone Humble of Cedar Hill High School and Junior ROTC as the first place winner of the AFA-Texas Earle North Parker Essay. In addition to the $500 prize she received for winning the Seidel Chapter contest, she won a scholarship of $4,000 for first place in the AFA-Texas contest.

The AFA-Texas Earle North Parker Essay Program is an ongoing annual essay competition available to Texas high school seniors, in both public and private schools. It was founded in 1963 as a result of Parker's contribution of seed money to start such a program. The purpose of the program is to foster judicious thought about patriotism and/or national security matters. The essay competition provides a vehicle for rewarding scholastic excellence and providing financial assistance to the contestants for pursuing higher education. The subject for this year’s contest was: “Part of the Air Force Mission Statement is ‘Integrity;’ what does this mean to you?”
