Leadership Development Directors Recommendations
Under the provisions of AFA's
National Constitution, a maximum of six Leadership
Development Directors may be elected to serve as
full-fledged voting members of the Board. The
Leadership Development Directors are elected for a
two-year term by the Board of Directors, and are
limited to serving one term. There will be three
open positions when the incumbents complete their
two-year terms at the end of September.
In order to compile a slate of
nominees for these positions on the Board, you are
invited to submit recommendations on the
enclosed
recommendation form. These individuals must be
voting members of AFA and, of course, should be
individuals you think would best qualify for
service at the national level. They should have had
some AFA experience at the local level, a deep and
abiding interest in the Air Force and/or aerospace
activities, and should be in a position to devote
sufficient time to perform the duties of a National
Director. Individuals who have held state
elective office or higher are NOT eligible. The
established formula for reimbursement of expenses
incurred for attending Board meetings also applies
to the Leadership Development members.
Each newly elected Leadership
Development Board member will assume office, along
with other elected officers and directors, October
1, 2002.
The deadline for receipt of
recommendations at National Headquarters is May 24,
so start the process now. Please survey the
talented members in your area and discuss the
recommendations with your local leaders, so that we
will be able to present the best possible slate of
individuals for the Board's consideration. Also,
forward your chapter level recommendations through
the State President and Region President for their
endorsements. As virtually all Leadership
Development candidates are involved at the chapter
level, it is important that state and regional
officials are aware of the recommendations and have
some background information on these individuals.
Whether the endorsements are positive or negative,
all endorsed recommendations should be forwarded to
National Headquarters.
