TRICARE Provides Locator and Appointment Assistance

The new Behavioral Health Provider Locator and Appointment Assistance Service is just one of the many ways the TRICARE Management Activity is taking measures to enhance its behavioral health care.

All Active Duty Service Members (ADSMs) and enrolled Active Duty family members (ADFMs) in the U.S. can contact their regional managed care support contractor for assistance when they need help locating approved civilian behavioral health providers in the area.

The toll-free numbers are: West Region, (866) 651-4970; North Region, (877) 747-9579; and South Region, (877) 298-3514. A staff member can also help with making the appointment by engaging the beneficiary in a conference call with the provider to ensure scheduling is satisfactory. TRICARE Overseas Program beneficiaries can use the service when traveling in the U.S.

ADSMs must have a referral from their primary care manager before calling the service, but be aware that TRICARE Prime ADFMs can receive the first eight outpatient behavioral health visits per Fiscal Year without a referral. They must use TRICARE network providers to avoid point-of-service costs.
