AFA Seeks Better Communication on Veterans/Retirees Issues

The Chairman of the AFA Veterans/Retirees Council has recommended, and the Chairman and Vice Chairman - Field Operations have concurred, that it is desirable to have a Chapter Vets/Rets POC to act as a liaison between the Council and the Field, This person could then keep members better informed and encourage participation among veterans and retirees. While the annual roster for chapters and states has a recommended (not mandatory) slot for Vice President for Veterans Affairs, in the future the roster will be changed to specify: VP Veterans Affairs (Veterans and Retirees.)

In the meantime, if chapters have not already appointed a VP Veterans Affairs, they are asked to consider identifying a person for this important slot and provide that individual’s name and contact information including e-mail address to AFA HQ (Mary Nauheimer: mnauheimer@afa.org) so we can begin the dialog.

(AFA HQ will use the Chapter President as the POC if there is no assigned VP-VA.)
