Outstanding Airmen Recognition
As covered in Newsline last month, the United States Air Force
announced its selection of the Twelve Outstanding Airmen, representing more
than 419,000 enlisted members of the Air Force active, Guard and Reserve
forces. The 2007 award recipients are listed on AFA's web site at
http://www.afa.org/aboutus/12oa.asp.
The twelve Airmen are awarded the Outstanding Airman ribbon with
the bronze service star device and wear the Outstanding Airman badge for one
year. AFA will host the Airmen and their spouses during the upcoming Air
and Space Conference and Technology Exposition in September and will
honor them at our annual Outstanding Airmen Reception and Dinner (September
24). They are each given a complimentary annual AFA membership and
chapters with an Outstanding Airman in their area have been notified separately
so they can congratulate them and invite them to a chapter meeting.
2007 marks the 51st anniversary of the Outstanding Airman award.
AFA initiated this award program in 1956
at the 10th annual National Convention.
