John Smith, AFA Comptroller, Retires

After 36 years of service, John Smith has decided to retire. John began his AFA career in 1975 as an entry level accountant. He learned the organization from the ground up and became AFA’s Comptroller in November 1987. Many of you came into contact with John in his role as the liaison for the Finance and Audit Committees. Many more will know him as the “purse keeper” behind the registration desk at convention and conference. No matter how one came into contact with John, it was always a pleasant experience. He carried out his responsibilities with expertise and good humor. He will be missed around AFA headquarters more than we can possibly say. John lived part-time in Delaware for many years and will now be a full-time resident. We wish him all the best in his well deserved retirement.
