IRS Exemption Update

Last month we promised we would provide an update on the group tax exemption each month, and this month there’s no change in status, but there is something to report. The person in charge of our IRS case recently told us that they had a meeting to revise procedures to get the case backlog moving. Our case has been updated and resubmitted (again with recommendation for approval). As of April 25, our IRS OPR expects final approval in one to two months (and, “No!,” we’re not taking any bets). All this means is that you may continue the 990-N process if you care to, but do not be concerned if your current Employer Identification Number (EIN) is not recognized.
