Two Winners Selected for the 2007 Capt Jodi Callahan Memorial Graduate Scholarship
The Air Force Association has selected Technical Sergeant
Rachel Murphy and Captain Matthew Glynn to receive the Captain Jodi
Callahan Memorial Graduate Scholarship for 2007. AFA awards the Callahan Memorial Scholarship each year
to deserving Air Force active duty, full-time Air Force guard or
reserve members pursuing a non-technical Master's degree. The scholarship
of $1,000 per person is given in memory of Captain Jodi Callahan who was
an AFA National Director and a Trustee of the Aerospace Education
Foundation, and is made possible through generous donations to the Jodi Callahan
Memorial Fund by her family and friends.
The recipients this year are extremely worthy candidates.
TSgt Rachel Murphy is currently pursuing a career as an Air Force medical
laboratory officer. While attending the University of Maryland
University College, Europe she has maintained a 4.0. She has also solely
coordinated base blood drives for U.K. National Blood Service and achieved a
33% increase. In addition to school and volunteer work she also was
published in a professional laboratory and local newspaper. She is currently
attending the Pennsylvania State University MBA program.
Capt. Matthew Glynn is currently seeking a Global Master of
Business Administration degree at the University of Maryland University
College. During this program he has maintained a 4.0 G.P.A. Capt Glynn is a career
F-16 pilot where he has had tours in Iraq and Southwest Asia. He attributes
one mission in Iraq where he and his team provided air support for a
combat brigade of the 101st Airborne Division as one of his proudest moments.
Capt Glynn continues his studies while he is deployed which is clearly no easy
task! He currently is an Assistant Director of Operations of a fighter squadron
and hopes his GMBA will benefit the Air Force and the country it defends.
