Pitsenbarger Awards for the 2009 Calendar Year

Funding for this award program for 2009 was set at $160,000 to provide 400 $400 awards. However, the number of applications increased significantly, and we processed 38 more applications than spring in prior years.

All base education offices were notified in January 2009: “Applications will be declined when funding has been expended.”

As of the writing of this article, we have spent $137,200 for 343 recipients. We project that we will be unable fund all of this year’s applicants. In fact, we believe there could be a shortfall of between $10,000 and $15,000 (or up to 37 denied applications).
