Gerald V. Hasler

Gerald V. Hasler, former National President and Chairman of the Board, died on Saturday, October 1.

Mr. Hasler started his military service in World War II as an NCO in the 41st Infantry Division. He became an aviation cadet and, after graduation and commissioning, he served as a B-25 instructor pilot. His students included Air Corps and graduates of the famed Tuskegee Institute in Alabama.

Mr. Hasler served in many leadership positions of AFA over the years. He received AFA’s Citation of Honor, two Presidential Citations, two Exceptional Service Awards and four times was named the New York State AFA’s Many of the Year. In addition to being a Jimmy Doolittle Fellow, he was awarded the Air Force Exceptional Service Award in 1979, by Air Force Secretary Hans Mark.

Funeral arrangements are pending. Expressions of condolences may be sent to his wife, Nilda, 444N El Camino Real #74, Encinitas, CA 92024.
