2011 AFA National Convention

The 2011 AFA National Convention is less than a month away! We still have a few discounted hotel rooms left at the Gaylord for September 16-18 even though the original deadline was yesterday. Please encourage your members to contact Sarah Piggott at spiggott@afa.org ASAP to take advantage of the discounted rooms.

If you have not already booked your ticket for the Saturday Night AFA Celebration Cruise, please do so immediately. We’ve been getting a great response so far, so get your ticket now since the space is limited. As a reminder, boarding will begin at 5:30 at the National Harbor dock. The reception hour will be from 5:45 – 6:45 (complimentary beer and wine) with a full cash bar the remaining times. The boat will depart at exactly 6:00.

Please make sure that you continue to check the Convention website for updated information. It is especially critical that you read the “Background Material for Delegates” page so you are caught up with all issues. The Statement of Policy will continue to be updated as input is received. Please check out the site and begin your consideration of these issues in preparation for the Convention business session. As you know, AFA is governed by our delegates and the Association relies on you for such important matters.

Also you will find in the Background Material section an optional Monday evening Pentagon/National 9-11 Memorial Tour – suspense for sign-up is 12 September 2011 (see http://www.afa.org/events/Conference/2011/pdfs/delegates/Pentagon_9-11 National Memorial Tour.pdf).
