AFA’s Mile High Chapter 127 in Colorado partnered with Buckley’s Benefiting Families Foundation (BFF) to leverage a grant from AFA’s United Forces & Families (F2) program for the 2024 Aerospace Data Facility-Colorado (ADF-C) Family Day, held on Saturday, Sept. 7, at Buckley Space Force Base.

The F2 grant, along with a matching contribution from the Mile High Chapter, played a vital role in ensuring the success of the ADF-C Family Day event, which was organized by Airmen, Guardians, and various Department of Defense services, agency partners, and civilians.

This Family Day was an engaging celebration designed to connect over 2,000 military service members and their families with the daily operations at Buckley, many of whom were Airmen and Guardians. The event featured a variety of activities for families that included games, giveaways, food, rocket building for children, mission briefings, and informative tours. Attendees participated in professional development sessions, interacted with firefighters from Buckley and the Security Forces K-9 unit, and engaged in building miniature satellites. Highlights also included foreign language writing and learning interactions, bookmark crafting, and a military rescue mission simulation. The presence of a live bald eagle further enriched the day’s experience.

AFA’s Mile High Chapter 127, in collaboration with BFF, proudly supported this Family Day to foster connection, morale, and awareness among the families military service members. This initiative aimed to bridge the gap between loved ones and the diverse missions undertaken at the Aerospace Data Facility in Colorado at Buckley. By engaging with families directly and showcasing the vital work being done, the event not only strengthened community bonds but also provided a deeper appreciation for the essential roles that service members play in safeguarding the nation, while also supporting the family unit’s quality of life—the underpinning motivation of AFA’s F2 program.
