In a heartwarming display of community spirit and collaboration, the Enid Air & Space Forces Association (AFA) Chapter 214 and Vance Air Force Base’s Spouse Space have joined forces to create a welcoming new addition: the Family Room at Spouse Space. This initiative represents a milestone in supporting military families stationed at Vance AFB, Okla., and underscores the power of local partnerships in fostering resilience and camaraderie.

The Enid AFA Chapter 214 has long been a pillar of support for military personnel and their families in the Enid area. Their dedication to service extends beyond Active duty and veterans, encompassing initiatives that directly benefit families facing the unique challenges of military life. The chapter welcomed the opportunity to partner with Vance AFB’s Spouse Space to enhance the existing facilities and provide a dedicated space tailored to the needs of families.

Utilizing funds provided by the Air and Space Forces Association United Forces and Families (F2) Field Grant Program, Enid Chapter 214 partnered with the Vance Spouse Space in the creation of new features for the existing Space, including a Family Room, Conference Room, Maternity Clothes Loan Locker, and PCS Loan Locker.

Vance AFB’s Spouse Space was created in 2022 as a place for spouses to work, study, and connect. The Spouse Space strengthens the Vance community by addressing mental health and employment challenges through the provision of beautifully designed spaces to work and gather, creating meaningful connections. Through Vance Spouse Space, linkages are made available to installation resources in a spouse-friendly format and environment. Spouse Space directly supports Vance’s priority of creating resilient families in order to support the mission

Located within the Spouse Space facility on base, the new Family Room offers a comfortable and inviting environment equipped with amenities designed to cater to both parents and children. From cozy seating areas to interactive play zones, the room is designed to nurture a sense of community and belonging.

The Spouse Space Family Room is more than just a physical space; it embodies a commitment to the well-being and resilience of military families stationed at Vance AFB. Designed to be a sanctuary for spouses and their children, it promises to be a place where connections are forged, friendships blossom, and support networks thrive.

“This partnership with the Enid AFA Chapter 214 is a testament to the strength of our local community,” remarked Alex Ober, Spouse Space Lead at Vance AFB. “Their generosity and commitment to our military families have made this expansion of Spouse Space possible, enriching the lives of those who serve.”

“This project is close to our hearts,” shared Lori Earl, Vice President of the Enid AFA Chapter 214. “We are honored to play a part in creating a nurturing environment where families can thrive. It’s our way of giving back to those who sacrifice so much for our country.”

The June 27 grand opening ceremony, attended by base personnel, community leaders, and families, was a testament to the collective effort and support behind this project. The event featured speakers highlighting the importance of community support networks and the invaluable role played by military spouses in the fabric of Vance AFB.

The Spouse Space Family Room at Vance AFB exemplifies the unwavering spirit and dedication that define military communities worldwide—a beacon of hope and support for families today and for generations to come.
