Aerospace Education & STEM Programs

When it comes to education, the opportunities are limitless. From the classroom to the community, AFA offers programs and supports initiatives to advance the future of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). There’s camaraderie in our AFA community that can’t be replicated. Any donation received advances STEM-related classroom curriculum while supporting STEM educators, civilians, our Total Force Airmen, their families, and America’s youth.

We want to see our members aim high in their educational journeys. Financial assistance and support is available for all Active Duty, Guard, and Reserve service members, their dependents, Air Force spouses, cadets, and civilians. Explore the opportunities made possible by the generosity of our donors and sponsors, and apply for a scholarship today.

K-12 Educator Grants

We believe in supporting the education of our future generations. Our K-12 Educator Grants provide up to $500 per academic year. Through this, aerospace education programs and activities are brought into elementary and secondary classrooms when a lack of funding leads to a gap in learning.

Civil Air Patrol

Since 1996, the Civil Air Patrol has provided grant programs that have impacted more than 350,000 youth. To support CAP’s aerospace education programs, we provide aerospace education grants for Civil Air Patrol units. Through 20 educational grants awarded annually, we help students strive toward a future in STEM careers with confidence.

Air Force Junior ROTC Grant

The AFJROTC Grant was established to promote aerospace education throughout classrooms and units. As an Aerospace Science Instructor, heighten your students’ interest in how aerospace plays a prominent role in shaping society. Grants are issued twice a year.

Teachers do so much more than educate. They inspire, motivate, and nurture. Our unique Teacher of the Year program rewards special teachers who help students see STEM education as an exciting adventure.

Pitsenbarger Award

Pitsenbarger Awards provide a one-time grant of $400 to selected top Active Duty, Guard, and Reserve Air Force enlisted personnel graduating from the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) with plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree. The grants coincide with the CCAF graduation ceremonies held each spring and fall.

Outstanding Cadet of the Year

Every year, each detachment, squadron, or unit may select one outstanding cadet of the year. We are proud to support these cadets with an award celebrating their remarkable accomplishments.

Professional Development

Arnold Air Society & Silver Wings

Arnold Air Society and Silver Wings are sister organizations, working in tandem toward common goals for their communities and the United States Air Force. We are proud to be closely affiliated with both organizations and provide more than $30,000 annually in support.

Through our partnership with Arnold Air Society, college students can join its professional, honorary, service organization that unites fellow Airmen who believe in building strong officers for the United States Air Force.

When students join Silver Wings, they become a part of a bigger mission that serves the local community. Through community service and education on national defense, Silver Wings helps students grow as proactive, knowledgeable, and effective civic leaders with a greater sense of purpose.
