AFA's Wounded Airmen Cycling Challenge Raises $25,000

Arlington, Va. - AFA held its third annual Wounded Airmen Cycling Challenge on May 19th in an effort to raise funds toward AFA’s Wounded Airman Program. The challenge took place at CycleBar, an indoor cycling studio, in Arlington, Va.

AFA is thrilled to announce that over $25,000 was raised thanks to our generous donors, sponsors, and riders who wanted to show their support for our Air Force and Airmen.

“Our Wounded Airmen Cycling Challenge was a remarkable event,” said Orville Wright, AFA President. “This was a wonderful challenge that provided an opportunity for AFA staff, Chapter members, supporters and donors to get together to show their support for our wounded heroes.”

The event began with an hour-long spin class lead by a CycleBar professional instructor and concluded with a reception.

AFA’s Wounded Airman Program serves as a non-profit partner to the Air Force Wounded Warrior program to support the more than 8,000 wounded Airmen and their families in the program. Support includes emergency assistance grants, resiliency training, employment readiness programs, caregiver support programs and Airman for Life travel assistance grants for unfunded veterans to attend Air Force and DoD adaptive sports events. We are proud to have provided over $625,000 in direct support of wounded Airmen and their families in the first five years of Wounded Airman Program operations.

The annual fundraiser had over 125 donors and 16 sponsors who helped AFA toward our fundraising goal. Thank you to our generous event sponsors and corporate sponsors; &Co, C-Ink,, Evolve IP, Freeman, Jobs Path, Lockheed Martin, Lynch Pinnacle, National Trade Productions, New York Life, Oracle, Pragmatics, and Stoladi. We were also pleased to receive support from the Gen Charles A. Gabriel and Nation’s Capital Chapters of AFA.
