AFA Congratulates CMSgt JoAnne Bass on Becoming the 19th Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force
CMSgt JoAnne Bass will become the 19th Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force, and the first female enlisted Airman to lead one of the military services.
“Great to see our Air Force leading the way and breaking down barriers at a historic time in our country,” said AFA President Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Bruce “Orville” Wright. Like the next Chief of Staff, Gen. C.Q. Brown, CMSgt JoAnne Bass is a demonstrated and proven leader who will help shape and lead our Air Force to new heights in the years to come. Both have lifelong roots in the military and bring exceptional credentials to the new roles they will assume this summer. The Air Force Association looks forward to supporting their work in advancing airpower and taking care of Airmen and their families.”
Bass currently serves as command chief master sergeant for Second Air Force at Keesler Air Force Base, Miss. She is the top enlisted adviser for Air Force-run training courses that graduate 150,000 military personnel each year.
The Air Force Association is a non-profit, independent, professional military and aerospace education association. Our mission is to promote dominant U.S. Air and Space Forces as the foundation of a strong National Defense; to honor and support our Airmen, Space Force Professionals, and their Families; and to remember and respect our enduring Heritage.
