Travel Assistance
Of the 11,000 wounded Airmen and Guardians currently enrolled in the Air Force Wounded Warrior program, approximately 5,000 have been medically retired—meaning they cannot receive funding from the Department of the Air Force to attend Warrior CARE events, the Air Force Warrior Games Trials, or the DOD Warrior Games. However, these are the Warriors that often need these events the most.
That’s why AFA’s Wounded Airmen & Guardians Program is proud to offer Travel Assistance grants to medically retired Airmen and Guardians who have been identified by the Air Force Wounded Warrior (AFW2) program office as someone who could benefit from attending a Wounded Warrior event.
To find out if you or a Wounded Warrior you know is eligible for an AFA Travel Assistance grant, contact us at afawap@afa.org.
Travel grants are made possible through generous financial support from AFA Chapters, nonprofit partners, and corporate sponsors. Please consider giving to AFA’s Wounded Airmen & Guardians Program so we can continue assisting our medically retired Warriors in their rehabilitation at CARE events and Warrior Games events.
