Wounded Airmen & Guardians Program

AFA created the Wounded Airmen & Guardians Program in 2011 with a focus on taking care of our DAF service members. The program is made up of supporters beyond just those who have had the privilege of wearing the uniform: We are family members, community supporters, spouses, and friends who make up our Air & Space Forces family. We will always take care of our own.

Who We Help

The Wounded Airmen & Guardians Program supports the Air Force Wounded Warrior (AFW2) program in its mission to provide personalized support and advocacy to wounded Airmen and Guardians, plus their caregivers and their families.

Wounded Airmen & Guardians

AFA’s Wounded Airmen & Guardians Program supports the 14,000 servicemembers enrolled in the Air Force Wounded Warrior (AFW2) program and their families.

AFA provides travel funding, resiliency support, and more for 1,200+ caregivers and spouses enrolled in the Air Force Wounded Warrior (AFW2) Caregiver and Family Support Program.

How We Help

Since 2011, AFA’s Wounded Airmen & Guardians Program has provided more than $1,000,000 in life-changing assistance to seriously wounded, ill, and injured Airmen, Guardians, their caregivers, and their families.

Warrior Care Events

AFA is proud to be on-site at AFW2 Warrior CARE events to provide meals, caregiver activities, in-kind donations, social receptions, and more.

Travel Assistance

AFA covers travel expenses for medically retired Airmen, Guardians, and their caregivers so they can attend Warrior CARE events, the Air Force Trials, and the DOD Warrior Games around the country.

Financial Grants

AFA offers grants to wounded Airmen, Guardians, and their Families that help cover rent payment, gas cards, and adaptive sports equipment during their rehabilitation.
