Chuck Martin

National Treasurer

Chuck Martin is the volunteer leader overseeing the financial affairs of the Association, exercising and performing the duties assigned by the Constitution and the Operations and Procedures Manual. The Treasurer chairs the Finance Committee and serves as a member of the Executive Committee. He works closely with the Chairman and confers regularly with the President, Chief Financial Officer, Executive Vice President, and other key staff, as appropriate. He makes the annual Financial Report to the National Convention and provides operating budget and financial reports to the Board of Directors. Chuck joined the AFA in 1971 and has served in multiple capacities in various chapters as he was reassigned within the USAF.  He has served on the AFA Finance Committee for the past 10 years, including filling in as National Treasurer for 5 months in 2016.  He has served on the Fresh Look initiative, as has conducted multiple pro bono audit reviews of the Steele Chapter and other AF-related nonprofit organizations. AFA Awards include the Medal of Merit, AFA Special Citation, AFA Certificate of Appreciation (Sijan Chapter), and the national MajGen Scheidecker Award.

Martin earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Manhattan College, a Master of Business Administration from Michigan State University, with an emphasis in Accounting. He earned certifications as a Certified Association Executive and Certified Internal Auditor. He served as an Adjunct Instructor in accounting/management at the USAFA, Regis University, and the University of Maryland (European Division).  Martin is a former Commandant, DOD Professional Military Comptroller School.  He served in Vietnam at Bien Hoa, Phan Rang, and Tan Son Nhut air bases. Post-USAF, Martin served as the COO/CFO, American Physical Therapy Association; Treasurer, Foundation for PT Research; Treasurer, Falcons Landing; Member of the MOAA BOD; and currently serves on the Finance Committee of a 3,200 home HOV, and Audit Committee for the American Academy of Audiology.  After 28 years of service, Martin retired as a Colonel.
