April 21, 2026
Nearly 1,000 cadets from across the nation gathered April 3–7 in Dallas, Texas, for the National Arnold Air Society and Silver Wings Conclave (NATCON), a premier event focused on leadership development, Air and Space Force awareness, and cadet camaraderie.
The D.W. Steele Sr. Chapter was recognized at the gathering with the prestigious James A. McDonnell Award for 2025–2026, honoring its outstanding support to the First Lady Chapter and its success in advancing Arnold Air Society and Silver Wings programs. The chapter was cited for strengthening Silver Wings membership and professional development, while fully integrating cadets into chapter activities, including an Air Force and Space Force Birthday celebration, the Salute to Arnold Air and Silver Wings event, and the Joint Base Andrews Air Show.
Chapter Secretary Bob Hill accepted the award on behalf of the Chapter.
“We are committed to preparing the next generation of Air and Space Forces leaders,” he said. “Our Arnold Air and Silver Wings partners are our Wingmen, and together we are advancing AFA’s mission.”
The First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt Chapter, at George Washington University, received a national AFA award for its contributions to the partnership and support provided to the D.W. Steele Sr. Chapter during the past year. Andina Pepshi, the chapter’s President, accepted the award for the chapter.
During the AFA-hosted luncheon on April 4, AFA’s Executive Vice President Maj. Gen. Larry Stutzriem, USAF (Ret.), addressed attendees and emphasized the importance of continued engagement with AFA. He encouraged cadets to remain active members, noting the Association’s vital role in supporting the nation’s future Airmen and Guardians.
“Stay with Arnold Air Society and Silver Wings and stay associated with our AFA band of brothers and sisters,” Stutzriem said.
Steele Chapter’s continued investment in cadet development reflects its commitment to building informed, engaged, and capable future leaders for the Air Force and Space Force.
