AFA Hurlburt Chapter Supports Deployed Airmen and Guardians
May 18, 2026
AFA’s Hurlburt Chapter #398, based at Hurlburt Field in Florida and serving the surrounding Gulf Coast military community, is supporting deployed service members through a $1,000 grant from AFA’s United Forces & Families Program. The grant will fund basic hygiene and personal care items, such as toiletries and other everyday essentials, for Airmen and Guardians serving away from home. Items like these are often in high demand or difficult to replace in deployed environments, making this support especially valuable. The effort aims to ease daily burdens and reinforce the chapter’s commitment to those in uniform.

The chapter also matched the grant with an additional $1,000 donation. Chapter Vice President Lt. Col. Eddie Arroyo, USAF (Ret.), formally presented the check to Master Sgt. Darius Gamble of the Hurlburt Field 1st Sergeants Council, whose members will help identify and distribute essential items to deployed personnel based on immediate needs across their units.
Partnering with the Hurlburt Field 1st Sergeants Council helps ensure support is directed where it is needed most by aligning resources with immediate needs among deployed personnel.
The effort combines support from AFA’s United Forces & Families Program and local chapter involvement to provide practical assistance to deployed Airmen and Guardians. It also highlights how chapter-level support can complement on-the-ground leadership in meeting day-to-day needs during deployment.
This initiative reflects the chapter’s ongoing commitment to supporting the force and their families, particularly during the demands of deployment. By combining national-level resources with local action, the chapter continues to strengthen the network of care that Airmen and Guardians rely on throughout their service.
