AFA Swamp Fox Chapter Recognizes West Florence Cadet of the Year

May 19, 2026

AFA’s Swamp Fox Chapter in South Carolina is proud to recognize Cadet Capt. Morgan St. Cloud of West Florence High School’s AFJROTC Unit SC-022 as the 2026 Outstanding Cadet of the Year. The honor reflects St. Cloud’s leadership, academic achievement, and character, as well as the continued strength of the unit led by AFA lifetime member and Senior Aerospace Science Instructor Maj. Walter E. “Rhett” Anderson Jr., USAF (Ret.).

Each year, AFA recognizes cadets who excel in academics and training through its Outstanding Cadet of the Year program. Each detachment, squadron, or unit may select one cadet for recognition, with award packages that include a medal, ribbon, and certificate.

The chapter also highlighted West Florence High School’s new honors program for ROTC students. The program adds academic rigor while giving cadets more opportunities to develop leadership skills and strengthen their commitment to service.

Swamp Fox’s area of responsibility includes Sumter, Camden, Florence, Manning, and Myrtle Beach.

“It is always exciting to travel to neighboring cities to recognize our outstanding Cadets of the Year,” said Chief Master Sgt. Cheryl Moye, USAF (Ret.), AFA Swamp Fox Vice President. “These prestigious opportunities allow time to connect with cadets and their families while learning more about their goals and aspirations. Many of the cadets had already taken the ASVAB and selected their desired career fields. I was especially impressed when one cadet proudly shared that she scored a 97 on the ASVAB—an extraordinary accomplishment that reflects the talent, discipline, and bright future of these young leaders.”
