AFA Presents Dr. Paul Kaminski with Lifetime Achievement Award

NATIONAL HARBOR, Md., Sept. 13, 2023 — In recognition of a lifetime of work advancing aerospace power, AFA awarded Dr. Paul Kaminski with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2023 Air, Space & Cyber Conference. In addition to serving as the Chairman and CEO of Technovation, Inc., Kaminski leads the Board of Advisors for AFA’s CyberPatriot program, which inspires K-12 students toward careers in STEM disciplines critical to our nation’s future.

The award was jointly presented by Secretary of the Air Force Frank Kendall; Lt. Gen. David Deptula, Dean of AFA’s Mitchell Institute for Aerospace Studies; and Rachel Zimmerman, Director of CyberPatriot.

Kaminski has been a leader on the cutting edge of technology and innovation throughout his career. He leads Technovation, Inc. in driving advancements and enhancing autonomous systems across the Department of Defense and within industry. A retired U.S. Air Force colonel, Dr. Kaminski served in pivotal roles shaping the precision-strike community. He was responsible for testing and evaluating inertial guidance systems for the Minuteman missile and helping develop guidance systems for the first precision-guidance munitions. He also led the development of a National Reconnaissance Office space system and related sensor technology. Kaminski then went on to serve as Undersecretary of Defense for Acquisition and Technology from 1994 to 1997, and twice served as Chairman of the Defense Science Board, of which he is still a member.

Kaminski has received numerous awards including the National Medal of Technology and Innovation in 2006, and is a five-time recipient of the DOD Medal for Distinguished Public Service. He is featured in the National Aviation Hall of Fame and has received several international awards including the Netherlands Medal of Merit in Gold and is a member of the French Republic Legion d’Honneur.
