AFA Presents USSF Sergeant Momomi Atkinson with Pitsenbarger Full Measure Award 

National Harbor, Md. — The Air & Space Forces Association (AFA) presented its inaugural A1C William Pitsenbarger Full Measure Award to Sgt. Momomi M. Atkinson, a Guardian with the 68th Cyberspace Squadron at Schriever Space Force Base, Colo. Named after A1C William Pitsenbarger—who heroically exposed himself to enemy fire to rescue and care for wounded Soldiers, ultimately sacrificing his life while helping save others—the annual award honors a Guardian or Airman who embodies his legacy as the ultimate example of giving one’s full measure in service to others. The award was presented at the 2026 Air, Space & Cyber Conference on September 15.

Atkinson exemplifies what it means to give the “full measure” of devotion — to mission, teammates, and the United States Space Force. Her selfless service, proven leadership, and relentless pursuit of excellence make her an ideal representative of A1C William Pitsenbarger’s legacy. As a Mission Planning Cell Threat Hunter, she strengthened Delta-wide readiness through documentation for 10 major joint and coalition exercises and earned Top Performer recognition during a large-scale INDOPACOM exercise, ranking in the top 1% of 900-plus augmentees.

Beyond the mission, she helped raise $36,000 for Guardian morale and heritage. She earned her Community College of the Air Force degree, maintained a 3.8 GPA, and completed 75 college credit hours toward her bachelor’s degree. Atkinson epitomizes the Space Force Core Values through her selfless service, professional conduct, and steadfast devotion to mission success.

The award—which includes a $3,000 grant from AFA—was presented by Chief Master Sergeant of the Space Force John Bentivegna; Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force David Wolfe; AFA Board Chair Kathleen Ferguson; and AFA President & CEO Lt. Gen. Burt Field, USAF (Ret.).
