Air Force Association Awards 2019 Destin Flight Works Scholarship
ARLINGTON, Va. – The Air Force Association (AFA) is pleased to announce that Caroline Jok is the 2019 recipient of the Destin Flight Works Scholarship. Sponsored by Vertol Systems Company, the Destin Flight Works Scholarship funds pilot training courses leading to a private pilot certificate at Destin Flight Works located in Destin, Florida. The $10,000 scholarship will be applied towards instructor training and aircraft rental.
“AFA is proud to do our part to help the national pilot shortage that both the Air Force and airlines have recently faced” said General Larry Spencer, USAF (Ret.), President of AFA. “This scholarship sponsored by Vertol Systems Company allows AFA to build the pilot pipeline – one pilot at a time.”
Caroline Jok, a master’s degree candidate at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and a recent AFA intern, plans to enter USAF Officer Training School following the completion of her degree. Jok expects to start the pilot training courses this summer.
At AFA’s upcoming Air Warfare Symposium, Jok will be honored onstage as the 2019 Destin Flight Works Scholarship recipient and Air Force senior leaders will present the award.
