Alamo Chapter Awards Doolittle Fellowship in Memory of David E. Pope

AFA Texas Secretary Joan Lopez and Edward W. Garland, former National Secretary and current Emeritus Board Member, presented a Doolittle Fellowship to Marilyn Owens Roberts, the widow of Col. David Pope, USAF (Ret.). Created in the 1970s under Sen. Barry Goldwater’s Aerospace Education Foundation leadership, AFA Alamo Chapter’s Aerospace Education Fellowships honor supporters whose efforts merit special recognition and enables members to show their commitment to furthering aerospace education. The first fellowship was awarded to Jo Doolittle, wife of Gen. Jimmy Doolittle.

David Pope was an AFA Life Member and avid supporter of the Alamo Chapter Aerospace Education Foundation. His service was at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas. The Joint Base San Antonio Honor Guard presented full military honors including a 21-gun salute and taps.
