Air & Space Warfighters in Action: JetZero to Build Blended Wing Body Prototype
Secretary of the Air Force Frank Kendall announced during an Aug. 16 event at the Air & Space Forces Association that aerospace start-up JetZero will build a Blended Wing Body aircraft prototype with first flight slated for 2027. This effort aims to mature BWB technology and demonstrate its capabilities, giving the Department of the Air Force and commercial industry more options for future air platforms.
“This is a prototype/demonstration project,” said Kendall during the event. “… There’s a real potential in this technology to help increase fuel efficiency significantly. That’s going to lead to improvements in not just the efficiency and capability of our force, but also in our impact on the climate.”
