- What is Mission Membership?
Mission Membership is AFA’s free, digital-first membership tier designed to bring more Airmen, Guardians, families, and supporters into the AFA community. It includes essential access to news, events, and mission updates.
- Do I have to be a Mission Member to continue receiving emails and attending events?
Yes. To stay connected with AFA, receive emails, event invitations, and mission updates you need to be a member. Mission Membership makes this easy, providing ongoing access at no cost and ensuring you don’t miss important information or opportunities.
- What’s happening to my Air & Space Forces Magazine subscription?
Nothing is changing. Your print magazine subscription and Daily Report emails will continue as usual. You can manage your preferences anytime through your new AFA Membership profile.
- Can I customize my communications from AFA?
Yes. Visit your new AFA Membership profile to subscribe and unsubscribe from email lists, direct mailings, and more.
- Who can join?
Anyone: Active Duty, Guard, Reserve, Veterans, civilians, family members, and supporters of Air & Space Power.
- Is Mission Membership really free?
Yes. There is no cost and no credit card required.
- How does Mission Membership compare to AFA’s other membership options?
Mission Membership is your entry point into AFA. It provides essential access to news, updates, and community engagement at no cost. AFA also offers paid membership options such as Life Membership that include additional benefits like the print magazine, event discounts, and long-term recognition. As AFA continues to expand its offerings, more enhanced membership options will become available.
- Can I upgrade later?
Yes. You can upgrade to one of AFA’s paid membership options such as Life Membership at any time through your member profile. As AFA expands its membership offerings, additional enhanced options will also become available.
- Do Mission Members get conference discounts?
Mission Members do not receive discounted conference registration. Mission Members may attend the AFA Technology Expo at no cost. Attendance at AFA’s full conferences requires upgrading to a paid membership option, such as Life Membership.

- Military Spouses
- Do Mission Members receive the magazine in print?
Digital-only.
- Can Mission Members join an AFA chapter?
Mission Members are welcome to join and participate in all chapter activities including serving in Chapter leadership roles.
- How does AFA use my information as a Mission Member?
AFA uses your information to deliver personalized content, invitations, and opportunities aligned with your interests. Your information is never sold. You can update your preferences or unsubscribe anytime. Full privacy policy.
- What can I expect after joining as a Mission Member?
You’ll receive a welcome message, access to digital news and updates, invitations to events, and opportunities to connect with the AFA community. You’ll also have the option to upgrade to paid membership for expanded benefits.
- Does Mission Membership include advocacy benefits?
Mission Membership connects you to AFA’s advocacy efforts, to include advocacy alerts, briefings, and engagement opportunities.
- Can I switch from Mission Membership to a paid membership at any time?
Yes. You can upgrade from Mission Membership to any of AFA’s paid membership options whenever you choose. Upgrades can be made directly through your member profile or by contacting us at membership@afa.org
- Is Mission Membership available internationally?
Yes, anyone worldwide who supports the mission of the Air & Space Forces is welcome to join.
- Will my Mission Membership convert automatically to a paid tier?
No. Your Mission Membership will not convert automatically. Upgrading to a paid membership option is entirely your choice and can be done anytime directly through your member profile or by contacting us at membership@afa.org
- Is Mission Membership tax-deductible?
Mission Membership has no dues associated with it. Paid membership dues or donations may be tax-deductible depending on IRS guidelines.
- Can Mission Members access AFA scholarships or awards?
Mission Members may view available scholarships and awards. However, eligibility and selection requirements may vary, and some programs require paid membership.
- Does Mission Membership include access to the member portal?
Yes, Mission Members receive access to a personalized member profile with curated content, updates, and upgrade options.
