Wreaths Across Nebraska
January 14, 2026
AFA’s Ak-Sar-Ben and Lincoln Chapters in Nebraska have a long tradition of working with Wreaths Across America (WAA) every holiday season to remember the fallen, honor those who serve, and to teach the next generation the value of freedom. Each Chapter raises funds to support purchasing wreaths through WAA for placement as part of a single, coordinated event across the nation.
The Ak-Sar-Ben Chapter has teamed with the Offutt Officers Spouse Club for coordinating the annual event at the Offutt Base Cemetery. The Lincoln Chapter is a charter member of the Wreaths Across America Committee for the Wyuka Cemetery at Lincoln to organize their annual event, committee membership includes: the Wyuka Historical Foundation, Wyuka Trustees, Blue Star Mothers, Civil Air Patrol, Lincoln AFJROTC, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and Combat Veterans. Diane Bartels, a Lincoln Chapter member and long-time Vice President for Aerospace Education, is a founding member of the WAA Committee for the Wyuka Cemetery.
This year’s wreath-laying event was held December 13, 2025. Honor Guards, buglers, service representatives, AFA members, and many members of the public assembled to place wreaths at the graves. Participants were instructed how to reverently place the wreath and to take a moment to read and speak the name of the person buried to remember them.
WAA is a nation-wide annual event and any AFA Field Organization can participate by donating funds, organizing, or participating at local wreath-laying ceremonies.
