AFA Partners with Sandboxx to Support New Recruits and Their Families
September 15, 2025
The Air & Space Forces Association (AFA) has officially joined forces with Sandboxx to support new recruits and their families during Basic Military Training (BMT) at Joint Base San Antonio–Lackland, Texas. This partnership helps bridge the gap between military life and civilian understanding of our service, offering families and friends a window into the journey their loved ones undertake during training.
Sandboxx is a secure digital platform designed to keep families and supporters connected to their loved ones throughout Basic Military Training (BMT). The platform provides real-time updates, important training milestones, and a convenient way to send letters—ensuring that families stay informed, engaged, and reassured during the military training journey. In collaboration with the Department of the Air Force—including Air Force Recruiting Service and 2nd Air Force BMT—Sandboxx plays a vital role in strengthening ties with hometown America.
AFA and Sandboxx have worked together for over a year to enhance communication and boost morale for recruits and their families. Through the AFA AIMS (AFA Advocate to Inspire Military Service) initiative, more than 8,000 AFA welcome letters have been sent to recruits, and in 2025 alone over 500,000 messages have gone out to recruit’s support networks via Sandboxx.
With over 200 chapters nationwide, AFA actively engages with recruiting squadrons and supports STEM education, JROTC, ROTC, Civil Air Patrol, veterans, and military families. Military parents and long-term supporters are encouraged to share their insights and experiences by visiting afa.org/AIMS.
